Strong Culture, Strong Future – Yawuru Aboriginal Corporation

After a native title journey spanning over a decade, Yawuru people won recognition of native title in 2006 across roughly 530,000 hectares — a landmark moment for the community.

Since then, Yawuru has built a language centre reaching around 1,500 students a year, a ranger program caring for Country, and a thriving corporate group creating real economic opportunity for the community — every project built with Yawuru’s values held firmly at the centre.

As Yawuru Elder Di Appleby reflects in the film: “This place is not for me today, but it’s for the future of who’s coming up next.”

Yawuru’s story is just one of many Prescribed Body Corporate success stories and we’re proud to share it — watch the first film, on the Yaegl Traditional Owner Corporation, here
