Our Governance
The National Native Title Council (NNTC) membership is open to Prescribed Bodies Corporate (PBCs) and Traditional Owner Corporations (TOCs) and to Native Title Representative Bodies and Service Providers (NTRB/SPs) and other regional Traditional Owner groups.
The NNTC Board of Directors comprises 10 Directors:
- 4 Directors nominated by the NTRB/NTSP member class.
- 4 Directors nominated by the PBC/TOC member class.
- 2 additional Directors appointed by the Board.
This composition ensures balanced governance and equitable representation for all member groups. We have a board with equal representation of Traditional owner bodies including PBCS and Native Title representative bodies and service providers

Governance

PBC Steering Group
The PBC Steering Group is a national advisory body of PBCs from within NNTC’s membership that provides valuable guidance on issues of national and regional significance.
The PBC Steering Group helps to empower Traditional Owners with greater decision-making authority over their Country and ensures native title policy aligns with the priorities of PBCs and First Nations communities.
Meeting six times a year—twice on Country hosted by member PBCs—the group collaborates with the NNTC and NIAA to advocate for secure and sustainable funding for PBCs and the Native Title Sector. It also contributes to broader initiatives, including compensation, cultural heritage reform, water rights, and reviewing the Future Acts Regime.
